“SCARED?”
I’m scared of midnight’s haunting shadows,
I’m scared of frightened loneliness,
I’m scared of my own past regrets,
I’m scared of mental ill’s charred mess.
I’m scared of getting old and frail,
I’m scared of this cold, wicked world,
I’m scared of Satan’s tricks and lies,
I’m scared of my mind’s twisted curls.
I’m scared of cancer’s cruel return,
I’m scared for everyone I love,
I’m scared to leave my own home,
I’m scared, ‘til I pray, and look above.
For when these Earthly fears and stresses
Fade away in Heaven’s light,
I feel a calm and peace within
My soul and know it’s all alright.
I’m safe within The Lord’s great care,
I trust in His grace, love, and plan,
I know that everything within existence
Bends to His command.
I feel emboldened in The Christ,
Indestructible in this mortal realm,
For I’ve been saved, reborn, renewed,
So fear not death or wrath of Hell.
And God fits me in armour,
So, I face each fear and trial prepared,
And I’m not scared of anything,
‘neath God’s wings of faithful, Holy care.
