Without you, Lord,Without you, Lord,
My pain would roar,
So loud I’d be struck deaf,
My bones would crumble back to dust,
And soul would cry itself to death.
Without you, Lord,
Heart would be sore,
And shrivel like a parched, old rose,
My fragile mind would fall apart,
Consumed by mental ills and woe.
Without you, Lord,
My feet would fall,
My flesh would fail, for I am weak,
Poor eyes would lose their vision,
My wicked tongue would fire with untamed speech.
Without you, Lord,
I’d feel so small,
Insignificant, unwanted, and unloved,
My life would have no meaning,
And I’d get stuck within trial’s boggy mud.
Without you, Lord,
I could bear no more,
Of this world’s horror, grief, and madness,
The Devil would find work for my hands,
And soul would have no song of gladness.
Without you, Lord,
Insanity mauls,
For you’re my strength, the truth, and light,
The dark is only kept at bay,
By your love and power that shine so bright.
Without you, Lord,
Hell would have a ball,
And gladly drag my doomed soul in,
For I couldn’t float to Heaven,
Due to the weight of heavy chains of sin.
Without you, Lord…
No…I’ll say no more,
For you know you are my everything,
You’re my gracious shepherd and bread of life,
My risen Saviour, friend, and king.
And with you, Lord,
My spirit soars,
For I am safe within your care,
You fit me with your armour,
And in all my battles I feel you there.
I’m with you, Lord,
And I can’t fall,
Not in this world, nor the one to come,
I’m a blessed, saved sheep, with a joyous bleat,
Thank you Father, thank you Spirit, thank you Son.
