“Don’t worry,” said the mustard seed,
To the other crops planted in the fields,
“The Lord will make us big and strong,
And ensure we produce a fine harvest yield”.
The other seeds were not as faith-filled,
And nervously shuffled in their earthly beds,
And when the circling birds appeared,
They quivered with a sense of dread.
“Don’t worry,” said the mustard seed,
“Have faith The Lord will protect us all,
He concerns Himself with each living thing,
Even us…although we are very small.”
The other seeds were anxious still,
And wondered what would happen if
It rained too hard and far too much,
Then they’d surely drown and float adrift.
And then again, if they got no rain,
But pure blazing sunshine everyday,
Why, then they’d shrivel up and die,
And their ash remains would just blow away.
The other seeds felt weak and helpless,
“Don’t worry!” said the mustard seed,
“God’s grace is more than sufficient,
And He will send us everything we need.”
As the weeks and months all came and went,
Some seeds did leave through lack of faith,
Whilst the mustard seed grew tall and strong,
Weathered but wise in God’s great care and grace.
